Edge Skates Past Cluster Pucks 4-2 Edge Puts Close Game Away In Third Period
Olt faced off against new Sunday C2 team the Cluster Pucks last night in front of a frenzied crowd of 8 and came away with a 4-2 victory to improve to 2-0-1 on the season. The Cluster Pucks took the early lead with 2:40 left in the opening frame. OLT notched the score at one in the second period as Scott Mansfield cleared the puck up to center Scott Morris. Morris carried the puck deep behind the net and spotted defenseman Chad Laber cheating up in front of the net. He hit him with a perfect pass and Laber sizzled it past the Pucks netminder. OLT took the lead a couple minutes later as Larry "The Claw" Vozar carried the puck into the Pucks zone and spotted center Steve Gibbs near the front of the net. He feathered a pass to Gibbs who closed the deal to put OLT up 2-1. Just a mere 23 seconds later, the Pucks tied the score at 2. The third period saw no scoring until the 4:22 mark where OLT broke the tie. OLT goal scoring wizard Dan Harker bulged the twine with a wicked slap shot to put OLT up for good 3-2. Bryan Randles and Mansfield assisted on the play. The Pucks pulled their goalie with a minute left in the period, but OLT defensive stalwart Andrew Robison created a turnover and flipped the puck into the empty net to close the scoring out. OLT captain Mike Mahler returns the next game after a two week stint in Bangkok on a reconditioning assignment for OLT. |
