Short Handed Lizard Falls To Beer 4-2

Murray Racks Up Two Goals In Loss

The Lizard had several last minute scratches last night as they took on rival Beer for the second time this session, falling 4-2 in Thursday night CAHL play. Three regulars were out of the lineup and the Lizard's sub was out of town, so the lineup had to be shuffled at the last minute.

"That's just the way it goes sometimes," Lizard captain Steve Roth said. "Although it usually happens more in the summer with vacations."

Pure goal scorer Jimi "Jimi Time" Murray added two more goals to his ever growing career total, but that wasn't enough as the Lizard couldn't get over the hump after tying the game at one on Murray's first goal in the first period. Beer went up 3-1 in the second before Murray brought the men in orange a goal closer at 3-2 with his second goal of the night. But that was all the Lizard could muster offensively as Beer tacked on another goal in the 3rd to make it 4-2 and that's how it ended. The Lizard pulled goalie John Mathias with about a 1:50 left and put some sustained pressure on Beer, but couldn't get the puck in the net.

"We had our chances in the end," Captain Steve Roth said. "We pretty much kept it in their zone and kept the pressure on, but in the end, couldn't get that goal."

Forward Brian Vance had an assist on the night and defenseman Steve Roth had two assists.
