Edge Edges Gong Show 2-1 Timely Goals, Stingy Defense Key To Victory
OLT Edge started the toughest stretch of their schedule last night as they will meet the leagues strongest teams in the upcoming weeks. OLT got off to a good start by defeating an always tough Massive Gong Show 2-1. Two timely goals and some stingy defense when it mattered most were the key to this victory. OLT got on the board first in their second shift. OLT stalwart defenseman Andrew Robison gained the offensive zone and spotted Larry "The Claw" Vozar open to the left of the twine. Robison flipped a quick pass that Vozar put his claw on and sizzled it into the back of the net. Gong Show tied the game less than a minute later. The second period was kind to OLT as defenseman Scott Mansfield hit Chuck Kovach with a pass. Kovach spotted a streaking Chad Laber. Laber danced his way into the offensive zone and lifted a nasty backhand top shelf to put OLT up 2-1. This goal would prove to be the game winner. The rest of the game was a wide open, fast paced affair as both teams had their chances. However, OLT clamped down defensively when they needed to, making several key defensive stops. Robison and Laber stopped two seperate 2 on 1's late in the third to help OLT seal the win. "It was a good win," Vozar noted. "We made key plays when we needed to." OLT played without captain Mike Mahler who is running rampant in Asia and Scott Morris who was a late game scratch. Next game is at 5:30pm in Dublin |
